“Hey Hannah! We haven’t hung out for a while, just the two of us.
Why don’t you keep me company tonight?”
Hannah could hear loud and pulsating music in the background of Lydia’s voice. She checked the time and found that it was already 9 o’clock.
“It’s so late. How about—”
“What do you mean? It’s only nine! We used to go out at well past midnight. You never complained about the time back then.”
Hannah closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead.
“I’ve been really busy these last few days, and I’m exhausted.”
“Oh, okay. Let’s have lunch tomorrow, then. I’ll come to you, we can eat somewhere near your office. How does that sound?”
“Sounds like a plan.” There was a smile in Hannah’s voice.
“I’m always down to have a meal with you.”
“Great!” Lydia replied enthusiastically.
“I’ll call you tomorrow.”
The next morning…
Edwin was able to wake up early and come down for breakfast more time to spare.
Shortly after, Johanna also walked downstairs, yawning and stretching as she headed to the dining table. She awkwardly sat across Edwin and ate.

Johanna gritted her teeth. She told herself to ignore him and just stirred her bowl of oatmeal.
“Head out as soon as you’re done eating,” Hannah called out from the foyer.
“I’ll be waiting for you in the car.”
